How to Make Good Videos for YouTube (5 Tips)

– I’m gonna tell you five easy ways to make better videos for YouTube and we’re starting right now. (hip-hop music) What is going on? My name is Nick, welcome to another video. If this is your first time here and you want to learn how to grow your channel, make videos, and all types of other YouTube-related stuff, start now by subscribing and clicking the bell so you don’t miss anything. Okay, your videos are a product so it’s really important to think about, just like any other product, how can I make my product better?

And just like any other product, you want to make sure that you are making it as good as you possibly can because you want to represent yourself in the right way, you want to make sure that you can keep people interested and keep people watching which is something that happens when you create a good product, a.k.a.

A good video. So, I want to give you my five top tips for making your videos better and real quick, if you make videos on your phone, my brother Dee has a video about the same exact thing but related to a phone and you can check that out at the top of the screen.

First on this list is to use music. When you use music in your videos, you can use that music to help you create a mood, help you create an atmosphere of sorts around your content.

Your choice of music is also gonna help you connect with your audience which is also extremely important here on YouTube. You want to make sure that you’re using the right music for the right people and if you can do that, then it’s gonna help you make your videos a lot better. Personally, for my videos, I use Epidemic Sound.

I have a link to them down in the description below. You can get a free trial as long as that’s still going on when you see this video but overall, Epidemic Sound is awesome for YouTube music.

Number two: Use b-roll in your videos. B-roll is basically extra footage so while you’re sitting there talking like right now, what I’m showing on the screen, this is an example of b-roll. It helps illustrate what it is you’re talking about and it kind of bits of help break things up so that it’s just not that boring shot of you sitting there looking at the camera, you sitting there playing your game, you sitting there knitting in that same exact position or whatever it happens to be.

It just gives you additional content to work with when you’re editing your videos. My brother Dee and I are actually in the process right now of creating our free resource for you to where you can get free stock vids to use in your videos without any copyright headaches or anything like that. I’ll put a link to that down in the description.

Make sure that you head over there and subscribe so you can get that content as it comes out. Number three: Cut out your um’s and ah’s.

It doesn’t matter how good of a presenter you are, it doesn’t matter how vibrant your personality is when you’re on camera, it’s important that you cut out your um’s and ah’s and the reason for that is if you’re watching a video and the pacing is moving along and everything is just flowing and then, um, people start, ah, trying to think of, ah, you know just trying to think of what it is that they’re, um, that they’re wanting to say, um… Like what just happened, it’s important that you cut that stuff out because you can see how that completely killed the momentum of the video, completely killed the pacing of what is going on here in this particular segment.

Now, keep in mind, it’s not a big deal if you do it from time to time but what I’m getting at is if you are just really messing up momentum, the pacing of everything that you’re doing and regardless of the type of content you’re making, this still applies and you can fix it in the edit if you are messing up the momentum, the pacing of what is going on in your video, it’s really important that you cut out those um’s and ah’s.

Number four: Make sure that you have enough light in your video. This is gonna make a huge difference in how people respond to your video. It’s extremely critical to make sure you have enough light. Me, personally, I use Aputure lighting. I have an LED of theirs hitting me from this side and then I have another backlight hitting me over here to give me this nice crisping and a little bit of light to separate me even more from the background.

And they even come with remote controls so you can do this. Pretty cool, right? And you can also adjust the lighting, making it brighter and dimmer and all that stuff which I’m not gonna do because I like how this looks currently. Next on the list is to make sure you put time into making sure that your audio sounds good. Audio is half of the video experience so it is critical to make sure that your audio is at least acceptable.

There are tons of microphones that you can use. I actually have a microphone video that I’ll link to and I’ll link to some other microphone videos down in the description because it’s extremely important that you put a lot of effort into making sure that your audio sounds as good as it possibly can.

Next on the list is to learn how to edit in general and the reason this is important is that it’s going to help you make a better end product for the people that are watching your content. And if you have a better end product, you’re gonna get more people sharing your content, you’re gonna get better audience retention on your videos, you’re gonna just get a better overall response on the content that you’re putting out and at the end of the day, isn’t that what you want? I’m gonna put a link at the top of the screen right now.

Go ahead and click on that link if you want to learn about software that you can use to edit because I know a lot of people that are watching this probably are using some basic software. The software that’s in that video is going to help you make better-quality videos, it’s gonna help you edit better so that you can create that better end product for the people that are watching your videos. And if you want to learn more about growing your channel, making videos, and all types of other YouTube-related stuff, start now by hitting the round subscribe icon so you don’t miss anything. Thank you so much for watching. I’ll see you next time.
